Leiomyosarcoma Originating from the Maxillary Sinus
Chung Young-Jun

Abstract
Leiomyosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor originating from the smooth muscles, accounting for approximately 7% of all the soft tissue tumors. It is more commonly found in the uterus, digestive tract, and retroperitoneal area. However, leiomyosarcoma occurs quite rarely in the paranasal sinuses and has an aggressive clinical behavior with poor prognosis. Recently, we experienced a case of leiomyosarcoma originating from the maxillary sinus in a 24-year-old man who complained of cheek swelling and toothache. Therefore, we present this rare case and briefly review the clinical and pathological features. Korean J Otorhinolaryngol-Head Neck Surg 2011;54:224-7
